We are all familiar with assembling furniture from Ikea. They are famous for their modern designs, eco-friendly products, low prices, and flat furniture packaging. But there is also a psychological reason behind Ikea’s iconic success, it’s the feeling of a sense of accomplishment after the 1000 pieces of furniture are put together by you to see a complete finished product, just like solving a puzzle. The term “Ikea effect” was first coined in a 2011 study by Harvard professor Michael I. Norton. According to this study, the perceived valuation of self-made products is more than ready-made products. It gives a…

I binged Netflix’s latest favorite drama “Emily in Paris” last weekend. This series has 3 lead protagonist — Emily Cooper, Paris (both are evident from the Series name) but also Social Media. Emily’s success in Paris is mostly because of her Social Media skills. She is an ambitious GenZ who jumped at the opportunity of working in Paris. Her job was to build a Social media strategy for a small marketing agency in Paris. The series tries to portray Emily as an ambitious girl who has the skills but lacked cultural knowledge of Paris essential for building relationships and gain…

Now with so many lines of code already developed and re-used, no-code revolution is means to an end towards the democratization of the software application industry.

The purpose is to reduce the barrier…

As marketers, we need to innovate our brand stories. Carousel ads are one of the ways to do just that. Its an advertising platform that can combine videos and images in the form of a slide show in a single ad. Its an alternative to otherwise static traditional.

This capability was first provided by Facebook in 2015, followed by Instagram which launched Carousel ads in 2017. LinkedIn recently announced its new carousel ad feature. Pinterest is testing the carousel ad feature for some selected ads. Carousel ads in many cases are considered better as the advertiser has more options to…

This summer, I tried my hand at Speed Listening intending to increase productivity. I am a fan of audiobooks and podcasts. Listening to them gives me a wealth of knowledge with little effort. I read this blog about Podfasters and that motivated me to try listening at 2–3x speed.

Speed listening like speed reading is great to save time and learn more. As per Human Factors Interaction, people can comfortably listen at a speed up to 210 words per minute without sacrificing any comprehension, while people tend to dictate at 105 words per minute. We can consume and understand more…

The greatest challenge as a writer is to find the perfect topic. Overcome the challenge and become a better writer.

We all have been writing our whole lives. In school we write essays, in college we write term papers, at work, we write emails. So why does writing seem so challenging when we want to do it? Whether its a novel, blog, or just a social media post, why we type 5 words and delete it only to stare at a white blank screen.

As a beginner writer on Medium, these are all my challenges and my daily quest to overcome them. It’s a daily fight between effort and procrastination, but its more important to have that fight.

So June…

B2B marketers sell products or services to businesses. They mostly work behind the scenes developing product and service narratives, building content and email marketing plans, launching digital campaigns, organizing or participating in face-to-face events, and doing press briefings and analyst updates.

There have always been myths about B2B marketing:

  • It’s not creative
  • It’s boring
  • It’s complex

While B2B and B2C are different, but as the world continues to grow around social media and other platforms, all kinds of buyer personas are everywhere. For so long we believed that LinkedIn and Twitter are where we could find our B2B C-Suite audience…

Marketing has always been about talking the language of customers to appeal them to your products and services. Since the beginning of time, marketing and branding strategies has been forced to evolve with the changing and ever evolving belief systems in the society.

Customers Rebel, Marketers Settle

What is Marketing today, it’s definitely not what it was a decade or let’s say 5 years ago. In his book Marketing Rebellion, Mark Schaefer takes us through this journey of how marketing was forced to evolve and be better. Technology has made the world smaller and more interconnected where information spreads like fire. He cites relevant…
